A traditional Tamil Brahmin (Tambrahm) wedding is a string of customary rituals that are believed to unite two souls in holy matrimony. Attending this wedding incited a great sense of intrigue in me. The conventional ceremonies conducted in lieu of the wedding are as vibrant as the pair themselves, an artistic couple with a twist in taste. That being said, it is the exact reason why they were so happy to have us, JK Creatives to cover their special day. It was indeed an honour and a gateway for us to find our favorite couple.

The wedding was attended by the immediate kith and kin. It was a very eventful wedding with so many happenings within a short span of time. It all felt like a magical setting to us while we were covering the elegant wedding at the Ganjam Mantapa, a coveted venue for convening crowds on special occasions in the heart of the Bangalore city. The rich background of the prestigious venue set a breathtaking backdrop for the ceremonial wedding. The rituals are fun-filled and at the same time a sublime feast to eyes as much as to the mind. On the morning of the auspicious day, when the early birds are chiming in the early hues the bride girds up for the most special day of her life. The groom is all clad in a silk dhoti (Panchagacham) and is equipped with essentials such as an umbrella, coconuts, rice, a walking stick and an extra dhoti in order to set out on a Kashi Yatra (A journey that symbolizes the beginning of celibacy or bachelorhood). The father of the bride is entrusted with the duty to convince the groom to come back and reconsider his decision to marry his daughter. Watching this gleeful play of events first-hand was a zestful experience for me as a person who loves immersing oneself in high-spirited moments. A fun fact to note here is that in recent times the groom’s family sometimes arranged for an auto that would wait outside the wedding venue, giving the groom one last chance to make a run for it. Amidst such alluring practices our groom, Srinivas was more than happy to come marching back to his beautiful bride whom he couldn’t resist any longer to make his once and for all. All the jaunty rituals and celebrations could not be put to rest until the groom- Srinivas sang his heart out which could not be considered anything less than attending a celebrity concert while the talented bride- Sandhya stunned onlookers with her graceful dance moves.

We couldn’t have come across a happier couple than Srinivas and Sandhya. We are so glad that we were entrusted with the opportunity to cover the merry moments in their lives.
